What is preventative maintenance?
Preventative maintenance is the regular maintenance of your vehicle that helps keep your car running efficiently and eliminates potential issues that may leave you stranded. Manufacturers know that a properly maintained automobile will be more reliable, safer, and last longer.
How do I know when my car needs a tune-up?
You may see your less mileage from a tank of fuel. Your vehicle may start running rough. If your check engine light comes on, that could also be an indication that your car is in need of a tune-up. At our auto repair center in Streamwood, IL, we offer professional tune-ups and look forward to providing you with the reliable assistance you need.
Why do my brakes squeak?
Brakes can squeak for many reasons, but continuous squeals & grinding sounds may mean it is time for new brake pads and shoes. Worn brakes can mean longer stopping distances and difficulty stopping in emergency situations. Rotors and drums that are too thin may even become over-stressed and break. Remember, if you notice any of these symptoms it is best to get your brakes checked out.
Why is my check engine light on?
Check engine light alerts the driver of a potential issue through the onboard diagnostic system (main computer). When the check engine light comes on it means that a system within your vehicle — such as fuel injection, ignition, or emission control — isn’t operating efficiently, even though your car seems to be running fine. If your check engine light comes on, and it is flashing, that indicates a more severe issue that should be checked out immediately to prevent damage to the catalytic converter (part of your exhaust system). Ignoring your check engine light could severely damage the engine components and cost you more money to sort out.
What is the main cause of tire damage?
Although there are many things that can cause tire damage, improper inflation is the main issue we see. Always keep a tire pressure gauge in your automobile and frequently check the pressure of all your tires.
